Lag BaOmer Mini-Parade

On the Friday before Lag BaOmer, we held our very own mini-parade in school.  Beforehand, each of the children made a Mitzvah banner to hold while marching.  We gathered together in the Shul and watched a video of a grand Lag BaOmer parade held many years ago - with lots of kids, clowns, marching bands and more.  Once we got into the parade spirit, we raised our banners high and began our parade around the block of school.  As we marched, we sang songs of Jewish pride, and recited the Pesukim.
Many children also joined the "Great Parade" in Crown Heights that Sunday, for a truly special experience.

"Yeladim" Play Yard Project by the MPA

Dear Parents, Community Members and Friends:

We, at Mazel Parents Association (MPA), are very excited to be writing to you today because we are starting a brand new “Yeladim Play Yard” project as we strive to continue building a “new” and “improved” school experience for our children. Some of you may think that raising funds for a school project is a challenging feat during these tough economic times, but we are ready to work to make it happen because we know that our kids' education is one of the most important building blocks of life!

Looking back at last year’s Mazel Extreme Makeover Project, it’s clear to see how collaboration and team effort from MPA, parents and community members can do so much. With your support we raised over $35,000 for our school. As a result, our kids entered a beautiful and remodeled school last year and are enjoying every minute of it. Now we are ready to take the next step in bringing our kids the best school experience possible – building a new play yard. And don’t we all want the best for our children?

Our Goal is to raise $30,000 for demolition of the old abandoned house on the school’s property, leveling and paving the ground and building a new fence. We aim to accomplish this by July 4th, so our kids can enjoy the new playground by the start of the new school year. We know it’s a lofty goal, but then again, this is all about our kids. The new space will allow for countless school and community events. From giving our 3 year olds a chance to plant their own garden, take care of it and watch it grow, to allowing elementary school students to focus on physical health and fitness, to hosting the entire school and Brighton communities in the outdoor Sukkah.

We encourage you to contribute to this wonderful cause. As always, your generous donations are tax deductible. We are also asking you to reach out to family, friends, coworkers and community to help us raise money and to make this project a success. To show our appreciation for your dedication to the “Yeladim Play Yard” we would like to offer you the following incentives:

Book Sale is a Great Success!!

An Author Visits Mazel!

This week, Author Devora Leah (Dina) Rosenfeld visited Mazel Day School for a day!!  The children were enthralled by her personality and interesting stories about books to share.  For the older children, the experience was especially meaningful since they got to see an author using the same techniques to write as they do in school - such as writing down ideas, working through many drafts, having someone edit their work, etc.  Thank you to the Mazel Parents Association for sponsoring our special guest visitor!
